For the last eight years, AIB Security has been a trusted provider of security and stewarding services at the MK Arena, supporting the EIHL/NIHL MK Lightning Ice Hockey games, including high-profile playoff and testimonial matches. Our expertise has been integral in ensuring the smooth operation of each event, with staffing levels tailored to the specific needs of each game. Depending on the expected attendance, our teams range between 15 and 40 personnel, all carefully selected for their experience and professionalism. We are responsible for various key aspects of event security, including crowd control, searching, entry management, and the overall safety and security of the venue.
Attendance at these games typically spans between 1,500 and 3,000 fans, creating a dynamic and sometimes challenging environment for managing large crowds. Our staff is deployed across the arena, ensuring safe and orderly access to the venue, handling potential disturbances, and assisting with crowd management both inside and outside the stadium. In addition to these core duties, we maintain high levels of vigilance in monitoring for any safety risks, working alongside venue management to ensure the comfort and security of every attendee.
AIB’s long-standing relationship with the MK Lightning team and its owners has fostered a close, collaborative partnership that allows us to make real-time adjustments to our staffing levels and roles. This flexibility ensures that we can adapt to varying game demands, particularly during high-stakes events such as the playoffs, where additional crowd control and response measures may be required. Our ability to swiftly reallocate staff throughout the week helps us support the event organisers, providing the necessary resources to ensure a seamless and safe event.
AIB’s team also assists with specific tasks, such as monitoring access to VIP areas, providing on-site first aid, and ensuring that all emergency procedures are clearly communicated and adhered to. Our proactive approach, underpinned by years of experience, has led to consistently positive feedback from the MK Arena management and the teams involved. In 2017 AIB began providing security for London Stadium in the form of response supervisors and team members.
