Project One X

AIB have been working with ProjectOneX, formerly OneEventUK, for around five years, across that time we have seen over 30 music events ranging from drum & bass, house, EDM and pop. In November 2024 AIB provided over 65 staff to Marshall Arena as Sanctuary Forever took place in Milton Keynes. A brand that was very popular in the area, meant we saw a maximum capacity crowd of 4,500 people. We deployed 5 management staff, 10 response staff, 29 security staff and 20 stewards along with an event controller.

As the event had a history within the area the demographic of the crowd was quite diverse, seeing an older audience attend from the beginning and the younger crowd joining in the evening. The event saw a large drug presence with our drugs dogs indicating frequently resulting in a large number of drugs being seized or left in our amnesty bins. We had contact with local police that had arranged a collection to ensure they could be properly disposed of. Our largest issue across the evening was medical incidents related to intoxication and people being under the influence. All of our security team are first aid trained and were able to administer assistance where possible until our fully trained first aid partners were able to attend. All incidents were reported and logged to event control with the reports being made available to all key stakeholders after the fact.

Other issues we faced was aggressive or anti-social behaviour amongst attendees, our security teams were able to manage these and bring them to a resolution for the most part with the occasional person having to be removed from the venue.

Our response teams were incredibly busy during this event, between supporting our medical teams find and remove vulnerable individuals from the crowd to the ejection of over-intoxicated or aggressive individuals. We had our teams set in three to ensure they were supported at all times and they were heavily briefed before doors opened to the event. Across the weekend we were able to run the event with no major issues and keep the event secure.

Another task our response teams under-took was running enhanced search while our doors were green. Any time the dogs indicated on an individual they were taken to a search tent to have an enhanced, full pat down search and removed any prohibited items they were attempting to bring into the venue. Once our doors closed these teams were then redeployed inside to support where needed.

For this event we had a large number of artists being transported between the green room and stage so our back of house team ensured this was as sterile as possible. With a dedicated manager to relay with artist liaison we were able to ensure numbers of guests were kept to capacity but also that everyone felt comfortable and looked after.

A key issue with this particular back of stage area was that it was right next to a fire escape that our response teams needed to use in the case of an ejection and was also a blue light route for our medical team. Our back of house manager organised his staff to guarantee any entry points had someone to challenge those wishing to enter the back of stage area. Our staff member even stopped a well known artist from entering the green room as he had no accreditation and was not with the artist liaison. This was something quickly solved with only minor irritation from the artist however they respected how secure we were able to keep the area throughout the evening.

Our security and stewarding staff made up the majority of our search and customer facing roles as attendees queued and made their way into the venue, aside from ensuring everyone met the entry requirements and removing prohibited items our staff also controlled the speed of entry and ensured people entering the venue were sound of mind. One of the ticketing staff were touched inappropriately during this event something that was handled by a member of our SIA staff and further passed to a response team to remove the individual. As much as it can sometimes be overlooked it is key to make sure everyone feels safe inside the venue including those in front of house roles.

As this event was run across three stages with four rooms being in use on different levels, crowd flow played a large part in the safety of the event. Those with disability access were able to use a lift to access other floors and stages which was monitored by stewards, we also had security and stewards in the stairwells and on the entrances to each stage so that we could have a visual on any vulnerable customers at all times, particularly those that we intoxicated, but also that we could manage capacity in each room, feeding back to control when action needed to be taken.

  • In 2017 AIB began providing security for London Stadium in the form of response supervisors and team members. As we began developing as a company and our reputation improved, we eventually provided around 10-15 response supervisors, the security staff to fill those teams, a pitch manager and the response manager [...]
